Travelinsta - Travel apps are built for the before. Flights, itineraries, bookings. Almost nothing is built for the after, when the trip becomes a memory. I designed a travel journal app that turns every trip into a personal, beautifully kept journal.

Challenge
After a trip ends, memories scatter. Photos sit buried in the camera roll, stories stay untold, and the small details fade first. Existing options fail in two ways: Photo galleries store images but strip away context. A photo of a street in Lisbon means nothing in five years without the story behind it. Note apps hold stories but feel like homework. Blank pages and generic interfaces make journaling feel like a task, so people stop after day two. The core problem: there was no space where photos and stories live together, and no experience that makes people actually want to keep journaling.
Objective
A travel journal app designed around one idea. Journaling should feel personal, not like a task. Photos with stories. Users upload photos from their trip and write the story behind each one. The photo triggers the memory, the words keep it. Together they become an entry, not just an image. Typography that matches the mood. Every trip feels different, so every journal can look different. Users customise font styles to match the feeling of the trip. A quiet solo trip to Japan and a chaotic weekend in Istanbul should not read the same. A journal shelf, not a file list. Each country gets its own cover image, chosen by the user. Trips sit together as a collection, like physical journals on a shelf. Opening the app feels like returning to your memories, not opening a utility.
Results
Ownership was the guiding principle. Every choice, from editable covers to font selection, gives users control over how their memories look and feel. The interface stays minimal so the content, their photos and their words, is always the hero. A journaling experience people want to return to. The app reframes travel journaling from a chore into a keepsake, giving every trip a permanent, personal home.
